Academy Status

Dear Parents/carers

I am writing to inform you that, following a meeting of the Governing Body last night, we are applying to change the school’s status to an academy. You will perhaps be aware of the move nationally and locally by schools to move away from Local Authority control and become academies. After careful consideration and discussion over the last few months we have decided that this would be the right time for us to make the move. This will allow us greater freedom in our journey from good to outstanding.

We will be publishing a leaflet for all parents to answer many of the questions you may have about academies and what a change in the school’s status would mean for your children. There will also be a series of three parental consultation events held at different times of day for you to meet with governors and senior leaders from the school to ask any questions you may have. I will write to you in the next few weeks with further details.

In the meantime, there is a lot of information available on the internet about academies, from DfE and from schools that have already converted. I am also available by phone, e mail and in person if you have any immediate enquiries.

We are very excited by this proposed move and believe that this will open up new opportunities and possibilities for our children.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan Moody
