On Tuesday 5th December, 16 of our Y3/4 pupils went along to Oakwood High School to compete in the Oakwood Basketball Competition. The winner of the competition will go along to the Y3/4 Rotherham Basketball Finals Competition in March 2018 where selected pupils will get to represent the Sitwell Team.
Each pupil represented the school brilliantly with both their behaviour throughout the afternoon and their performances during matches. It was a chance for the Sitwell team to show and further develop their basketball skills that they have been learning during PE this half term. It was great to see the pupils using a variety of passes and very accurate shooting which saw our team score lots of points. They also showed excellent teamwork, positive encouragement for their teammates and lots of enthusiasm and motivation when playing.
After all the matches were played, we were informed that we had won the majority of our matches and therefore will go on to represent the Oakwood cluster in the Rotherham Basketball Finals in March. This is a fantastic achievement and each pupil deserves a big well done for their efforts. They will receive a certificate during a suitable assembly in the forthcoming weeks.
As always, a big thank you to the parents and grandparents who came along to support the Sitwell Team, we really appreciate it.

2 weeks before half term, there was a lot of sports festivals that took place that our pupils were involved in. We have had the Y3/4 Boys football team, Y5/6 Girls football team and Y5/6 Boys football team all take part in the Rotherham Finals at Wath Comprehensive School. Even though none of our teams were the overall winner, they all participated with 100% effort and did all they could to achieve positive results. They showed excellent sportsmanship at the end of each match and certainly showed why they deserved to be in the finals.

Well done to all of our 46 pupils who attended the cross country event at Oakwood on Tuesday 12th September. The event consisted of four different races; Y3/4 Girl Race, Y3/4 Boy Race, Y5/6 Girl Race and Y5/6 Boy Race with over 50 school pupils taking part in each. Each pupil gave it their very best effort in their particular race and all did themselves and the school proud. The top 10 finishers in each race qualify for the Cross Country Finals at Herringthorpe Stadium on Thursday 19th October.
