Modeshift STARS is a national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting sustainable travel. This year, we have decided to join the scheme to look at ways of promoting levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of our children. Our work will commence with our Y3 children creating a ‘Parking Pledge’. They will learn about safe places to cross the road and how drivers have a responsibility to keep us safe. We will look at zigzags and yellow lines, keeping pavements and junctions clear, respecting school crossing patrol and parking a little way from school and then walking. Finally, the children will design a tax disc sized Parking Pledge and the most creative design in Y3 will be chosen as the winner. Keep an eye out for our ‘Parking Pledge’ and thank you for helping to keep our children safe.
