Sitwell’s Summer Fair

Dear Sitwell Parents/ Carers,

Make sure that you have got Saturday, 15th June, from 12:30pm, blocked off in your diary for the Sitwell Summer Fair at School. Previous staff and students are also most welcome! We are delighted to announce that the fair will be opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham, Cllrs Jenny Andrews and Jeanette Mallinder, at 12.30 pm on the day.

The Fair will have all the usual fun and games including Penalty Shoot Out, Face Painting, the Stocks, Water Gun Tin Can Alley, Hook a Duck and much, much more. There will also be plenty of refreshments on offer, including Dominos, Spud Buckets, Asian food, candy floss, buns and cakes.

One thing not to miss is the Popup Circus! There are currently 2 show times available – 1pm and 2.30pm. Tickets are available to purchase in school at £6.50 per ticket. If buying for a family, there is a reduced rate – £15 for family of 3, £20 for family of 4 and £25 for family of 5. Tickets are selling fast so to ensure you don’t miss out, please visit the school reception to find out more!

Raffle tickets are on sale in reception, for those who haven’t purchased any yet, as we have a fantastic range of prizes on offer such as family passes for Cannon Hall Farm, The Deep & Magna, family swimming pass and a 3 month gym membership! As always, we need and value your help and donations in putting together a great Summer Fair. Your delicious home baked goods are an essential part of all our Fairs, so lots of cakes and biscuits for the cake stall will be gratefully received on Friday 14th June, along with any delicious Asian food, which is always very popular. This year, we are going to bring back the adult and children’s tombola and any contributions of suitable prizes will be very welcome including toiletries, chocolate and bottles. Also, if you have any old photos of Sitwell, please share them with us, by dropping them off at school, or emailing Original photos can be returned if marked with your contact details.

Another stall to look forward to is the ‘Anniversary’ stall. The idea is very similar to the ‘Rainbow’ stalls we have ran in the past but this time we have linked it to anniversary celebrations. We would ask that this week your child brings in something, which is brand new and fits in with their year group’s category, to be sold as part of the Summer Fair:

Year 3: Candy – This could be anything from boxes of chocolates, to sweets and lollipops.

Year 4: Wool – This could be clothing, cuddly toy or knitting and crocheting sets.

Year 5: Pottery/ Glass – This could be cups, plates, bottles or ‘paint your own’ sets.

Year 6: Diamond/ Fashion jewellery – This could be cosmetic jewellery, bangles, rings, bracelets, necklaces or watches.

Please feel free to be as creative as you like, as the ideas we have provided are not an exhaustive list. Please note – we don’t expect you to spend a great deal of money and any donations are greatly appreciated!

Finally, feel free to bring any outdoor chairs and blankets with you on the day, so that you can sit back, relax and soak up all of the fun!

We really appreciate all your donations and the time, energy and effort that so many of you put into the Summer Fair.  The funds we raise really help improve the facilities that we give to all our children.  Do please come along and get the summer under way and have some fun raising money for the children’s benefit.

Don’t forget the fancy dress day on Thursday 13th June. We ask that your children come to school dressed up in clothing from any decade from the 1950’s until the 2000’s. By ‘Dressing through the Decades’ we will be able to celebrate the length of time the school has been open for and the children will take part in different activities on the day, from different decades. We would ask that the children donate £1, which will contribute towards the fundraising taking place.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

J Dawson
