Both our children attended Sitwell Schools and went onto Oakwood, TRC and University.

I hope I can use my education background to help the current pupils here to reach their full potential in all areas of school life and I want to support the school in whatever way I can.

Pete Sheldon

Chair/Parent Governor

I was educated in Rotherham, at Redscope Primary, Kimberworth Comprehensive and TRC. Since then I have had a 30 year career, jointly across adult learning and social care, principally within a local authority setting. I am a skilled and qualified workforce development professional who is committed to championing lifelong learning and hold a Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership through the Chartered Management Institute. Recently I have taken on a temporary secondment within the Business Improvement and Intelligence team of the local authority I am employed by. This supports the business planning and development of community focussed operations and Public Health. This move will increase my knowledge and skills base further and will also prove very useful within a Governor or Trustee role.

I became a Parent Governor at Sitwell Junior School in September 2014 and have been an active part of that board, becoming Chair in 2016. Latterly I have also been part of the Strategic Resources and Finance Executive (SRFE) of the Inspire Trust.

Marion Latham

Vice Chair / Parent Governor

My name is Marion Latham and I became a parent governor just after the school converted to an Academy in 2014.

I live locally and am married with two daughters who both currently attend Sitwell, although the eldest will be leaving this year and moving on to Oakwood High School.

My career to date has been interesting and challenging. On leaving college I worked for HM Customs and Excise for a number of years before becoming a qualified Counter Fraud Investigator & Manager.  I currently work within the Criminal Justice arena. I feel that skills gained throughout my career enable me to contribute positively to the school’s Local Governing Board.

I have always supported the school as much as possible and became an active member of the ‘Friends of Sitwell’ when my eldest daughter started at Sitwell Juniors nearly 4 years ago and this is something I am still involved in and enjoy.

I applied to become a parent governor in 2014 as I wanted to be able to contribute further to the school that is providing my children with an excellent all round education.  I have learnt a lot about the education system and the school during this time and I appreciate being able to be part of a school that ensures it’s children are given every opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Christine Marriott

Christine Marriott

Parent Governor

I became a Parent Governor in 2011, shortly after my older daughter started at the school in Y3.

I work full time as a manager at RMBC (previously in the NHS) as well as studying part time at Sheffield Hallam University for an MSc.  I have considerable experience in leadership, organisation management, project management, strategic planning, policy guidance and ensuring legal and statutory duties are fulfilled. These are all directly relevant to school governance.

I became a parent governor as I wanted have an input into how the school is run and want to make sure that the children in my community receive a first class education.  For me this does not just mean academic achievement but also to make sure that they gain important social/life skills to help them achieve their full potential in all that they do.
