On Thursday 7th March, it is World Book Day and as part of the school’s commitment towards promoting a love of reading, we will be celebrating with activities throughout the day.
On this day, children are welcome to attend school as a character from their favourite book. Through dressing up, it will provide opportunities for children to share and discuss their preferred reads and widen their knowledge of authors.
Please find below some of the more popular ideas for dressing up:
- Matilda – children can wear a blue dress.
- Harry Potter – wizard’s outfit.
- Where’s Wally.
- A traditional story, for example, Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks.
- A fairy tale character.
- A character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In the morning, parents are invited to complete the morning task (8:40-9:00) with their child, which will have a World Book Day theme to it.
During the day, the teachers will swap classes and share a story with a class from a different year group; this will show the enthusiasm staff have for reading and how much we value it. We are very excited by this!
